Join us tomorrow night for one of the most elegant Lunar New Year celebrations in New York City! It's going to be an amazing evening full of good food, entertainment, and bringing in the Year of the Rooster. Our very own Christina Seid from the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory will be one of the chefs. YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS!!
Lalo, a new Mexican-American restaurant has opened in the space where Winnie's Bar used to be. Gerardo Gonzalez will be infusing different cultures into his dishes, which is exactly what Chinatown and the Lower East Side stands for. Check out the menu here.
Welcome to the neighborhood, Gerardo!
There is a new restaurant in town and it's called Hometown Hotpot & BBQ! We went there recently and tried to put our name down for a table of 6 at 6pm and the wait was over 2 hours long! The next day, we decided to go a little earlier at 4pm and there was no wait at all.
We ordered hot pot and BBQ and the sauce station is awesome. Call ahead of time to see if they will take reservations or show up early for a seat! There is seating on the ground floor as well as a downstairs option. We ordered beef, lamb, and lots of vegetables. The best part? The three part pot with an original soup base, spicy ma la soup base, and tom yum soup base.
We are excited to welcome Hometown Hotpot & BBQ to the neighborhood and look forward to staying warm during this cold winter here! Check out the menu online!

There are 6 more days until Lunar New Year, the Year of the Monkey. For the first time in New York City history, kids do not have to go to school (and will not be marked absent!) if they celebrate Lunar New Year. Check out the story here!
Stay tuned for more posts about what to do this weekend in Chinatown to ring in the new year! Lunar New Year officially starts on Monday, February 8, 2016!
