Mooncake season is here!
This precious cakes can be found all over Chinatown. Traditionally mooncakes are made with lotus seed or red bean paste. A perserved egg is hidden inside each of them, representing the moon. Cakes with more than one egg will be more expensive.
Nowadays lots of different mooncakes are offered. Some are green tea, black sesame, and even strawberry flavored!
Chinatown markets like Hong Kong Supermarket and Kam Man offer large selections. They are also sold at local bakeries like Fung Wong, Fay Dah, and Tai Pan.
During this time of the year, boxes of these treasures are exchanged among family and friends.
