Dragon Fruit

When buying dragon fruit, you will see two very different prices.  This is because right now they come in two varieties: (1) Traditional with the white flesh and black seeds ; (2) Pink flesh with black seeds.  The one with the pink  inside can only be bought during this span of the year.

My favorite fruit vendor sells longan at the corner of Canal and Mulberry streets.

Longan is very similar to the lychee.  The word longan means “dragon’s eye” in Chinese.  These fruits are delicious and are often given as gifts when visiting a friend or family’s home.
